Power Rankings Driver Points System
Nascar 360's power ranking system places emphasis (+/-) on the following attributes of each ranked driver:
Starts
Wins
Top 5's
Poles
Dnf's
Lead Lap Finishes
Nascar 360's power ranking system is designed to award drivers points from the above mentioned categories in an effort to provide a driver rating that not only gives a driver points for running a race, but also rewards a driver for his/her success during each race and consistency throughout any given time table or season.
Naturally, emphasis placed on each category is different. Wins are weighted more heavily for obvious reasons where starts are weighted with the least amount of emphasis (anybody can simply start a race), but drivers are credited for showing up and racing. Poles carry more weight than starts, but are not weighted as heavily as Top 5 finishes.
Provisionals (unlike in RPM) are not credited as a start but are however counted as a DNF.
While Top 5 and Lead Lap Finishes are weighted differently, they both contribute to the overall consistancy of a driver during a specified time period.
Our formulas are not near as complex as Nascar's, but we believe this formula provides us with the first true Power Ranking system for Xbox Live Nascar drivers.
